Every tier carries the same $2.50 over its allowance and the same 30-day trial, with the platform fee waived for those 30 days. Which tier you are on is set in a monthly review by a person. Nothing here moves you overnight, and a volume discount is a conversation rather than a band on a chart.
What a month
actually costs.
Fee plus overage, on all four tiers at once. The one that comes out cheapest at your volume is the one the monthly review would put you on.
| Tier | Fee | Over the allowance | The month | Each activation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hobbythe tier for this | $19 | 188 × $2.50 | $489 | $2.44 |
| Starterthe tier for this | $199 | 110 × $2.50 | $474 | $2.37 |
| Growththe tier for this | $599 | none | $599 | $3.00 |
| Scalethe tier for this | $1,999 | none | $1,999 | $9.99 |
Past 3,000 activations we lift the ceiling for the month, flag the account and get in touch. Scale is the top of the published ladder, so there is no tier change above it to catch the overage. It has never been a cap, though, and is not going to become one.
An activation is a user
who brought their own AI.
It is the only thing Soba bills for: not seats, not requests, not tokens. A user counts as one when all four of these are true, and is free when any of them is not.
- A user of yoursOnce per person, per rolling year, across every project you run. Projects are not a billable unit.
- Who connected their own AIA Claude or ChatGPT plan, a CLI, a local model, or their own key.
- And ran on itOne request served by their compute rather than yours.
- And came backAt least 24 hours later, and inside 30 days.
Past your allowance,
every activation is $2.50.
The same rate on all four tiers, and nothing above it. Every allowance is priced below that rate too, so while you are inside one an activation works out cheaper still.
Each tier's fee divided by what it includes, before a cent of overage, so the gap to the rate is what the allowance is worth. Use far less than your allowance and the fee spreads over fewer activations, and the average goes the other way.
What is free in the first 30 days?
The platform fee. Activations are metered from day one, so the trial shows you the real shape of a bill rather than a blank one. There is no free tier under the ladder above: Hobby at $19 is the floor.
Do you take a cut of what I charge?
No. The platform fee and activations over your allowance are the whole bill. What you charge your own users is yours.
Is this what my users pay?
No. This is what Soba charges you. The plans you offer them are yours to design: see the plans you build for them.
What if a user never connects their own AI?
They are not an activation. Their runs fall back to your supply at your price, which is your cost and not a charge from us.
Can my tier change without me asking?
No. Assignment is a monthly review by a person, which is also where a volume discount gets discussed.
Is there an annual price?
Not yet. Everything above is monthly.
